The prices of gold in the country have surged again, with the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) raising the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 5,482 per bhori following an increase in the price of pure gold in the local market.
Under the revised rates, one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will now cost Tk 228,556, including VAT.
According to a BAJUS press release signed by Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin, chairman of the association's Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, the new prices came into effect from 10:00am on Saturday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS pricing and price monitoring committee held on Saturday morning.
BAJUS said the latest adjustment was made in response to a rise in the price of acid gold in the local market.
