Police arrested four people, including a woman, after activists of Awami League, whose activities are currently banned, and its affiliated organisations staged a flash procession and allegedly detonated crude bombs in Dhaka’s Mohakhali area this morning.
“Three to four crude bombs were exploded during the procession. We have detained four people in connection with the incident,” Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station,
According to witnesses, the procession began around 9:00am in front of the icddr,b building and moved through the nearby bus terminal.
During the procession, the activists chanted the “Joy Bangla” slogan while carrying a banner bearing the Awami League name, demanding the lifting of the ban on the party activities.
Several members of Mohila League reportedly joined the march near the terminal.
They allegedly detonated three to four crude bombs before leaving the area.
