At least three people were killed and several others injured in a devastating collision between a bus and a truck in the Shimulia area of Khoksa Upazila in Kushtia District.
The accident occurred at around 11:30am on Saturday (23 May) on the Kushtia-Rajbari highway in front of the South Kuthipara Mosque in Shimulia, according to Khoksa Police Station Officer-in-Charge Molla Zakir Hossain.
Police and eyewitnesses said a drum truck traveling from Kushtia to Pangsha collided with a passenger bus heading from Rajbari to Kushtia. Following the impact, the bus overturned and plunged into a nearby pond.
Local residents rescued the injured and took them to Khoksa Upazila Health Complex and the 250-bed General Hospital in Kushtia for treatment.
Among the injured, the condition of around 10 to 15 bus passengers has been reported as critical.
