58,347 Bangladeshis pilgrims reach Saudi Arabia

A total of 58,347 Bangladeshi pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj this year as of 2:59am on Friday, according to the latest Hajj bulletin.

The IT Help Desk published the information in its 28th-day bulletin on Hajj operations.

The pilgrims travelled on 150 flights operated under both government and private management arrangements.

Meanwhile, 15 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia so far during this year’s Hajj season. The deceased included 11 men and four women.

According to the Hajj help desk, 29,704 pilgrims travelled on 75 flights operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, while 19,784 pilgrims arrived on 53 flights operated by Saudi Airlines. Another 8,889 pilgrims travelled on 22 flights operated by Flynas.

Among the total pilgrims, 4,444 travelled under the government management scheme, while 53,903 travelled through private arrangements.

This year, Bangladesh has been allotted a total Hajj quota of 78,500 pilgrims. A total of 660 agencies are involved in managing Hajj operations, including 30 lead agencies and 630 coordinating agencies.

Subject to the sighting of the moon, Hajj is expected to take place on 26 May this year.

Return flights are scheduled to begin on 30 May from Jeddah and will continue throughout June, with the final return flight expected on 30 June.
