The air of celebration has turned into profound mourning in Lalanagar Union, Chittagong. A household that should have been echoing with wedding songs is now filled with grief as relatives await the return of four brothers who died together in Oman.
On Wednesday, May 13, Omani police recovered the bodies of the four siblings from a parked car in the Muladdha area.
The deceased—Rasedul Islam, Shahedul Islam, Sirajul Islam, and Shahidul Islam—were residents of Bandarajar Para in Rangunia Upazila. According to family members, the brothers had lived in Oman for several years.
The family was preparing for an upcoming wedding. Two of the brothers were scheduled to return to Bangladesh shortly, and the group had reportedly gone out together to finish wedding shopping.
Local residents discovered the four men unconscious inside a vehicle around 8:00 AM on Wednesday and alerted the authorities. Police arrived at the scene and confirmed they had passed away.
Preliminary reports suggest the brothers may have succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning or AC gas leakage after falling asleep in the car with the engine and air conditioning running. However, Omani authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
The bodies are currently held by Rostak Police, with arrangements underway to transfer them to Muscat for repatriation.
