Gold prices in the local market have dropped further just a day after the previous reduction, with the price of 22-carat gold falling by Tk4,374 per bhori.
According to the new rate set by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), the price of one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk238,121, effective from 10:00am on Saturday.
BAJUS said the price cut was made following a decline in the price of pure gold in the local market.
Earlier on Friday, gold prices were reduced by Tk2,215 per bhori, bringing the price of 22-carat gold to Tk242,495.
Under the latest rates, the price of 21-carat gold has been reduced by Tk4,141 to Tk227,331 per bhori.
The price of 18-carat gold has been cut by Tk3,558 to Tk194,847 per bhori, while traditional-method gold now costs Tk158,689 per bhori after a reduction of Tk2,916.
Alongside gold, silver prices have also been reduced in the local market.
The price of 22-carat silver has been lowered by Tk117 to Tk5,657 per bhori.
In addition, 21-carat silver now costs Tk5,365 per bhori after a reduction of Tk175, while 18-carat silver has been reduced by Tk117 to Tk4,607 per bhori.
