Indian Navy ship INS SUNAYNA arrived in Bangladesh on a three-day goodwill visit and anchored at the port of Port of Chittagong from May 8 to 10, 2026.
As part of the visit, Commanding Officer of INS SUNAYNA, Commander Sidrat Chowdhury, and Indian Naval Attaché to Bangladesh Captain Vikramdeep Singh Chauhan paid a courtesy call on Chittagong Port Authority Member (Harbour and Marine) Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah on May 9, 2026.
During the meeting, both sides held fruitful discussions on various issues of mutual interest. The discussions focused particularly on maritime logistics, port management, port digitalization activities, marine education, easier visa facilities for Bangladeshi sailors, improvement of maritime communication, and prospects for future cooperation.
Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah inquired about the overall condition, visit activities, and various operational aspects of the Indian naval ship, as well as the welfare of its officers and sailors. He wished overall success for INS SUNAYNA’s Bangladesh visit and expressed optimism that the friendly relations between Bangladesh and India would further expand in the future.
He also noted that such goodwill visits would strengthen professional relations, mutual understanding, and regional maritime security and cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
Senior officials of the Bangladesh Navy and the Chittagong Port Authority were present during the meeting.
