President Mohammed Shahabuddin departed for the United Kingdom on Saturday morning for follow-up treatment and routine health examinations.
A regular flight operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the president left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for London at 7:45 AM.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Yousuf SY Ramadan, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, along with senior officials from the foreign ministry, the Prime Minister’s Office and the President’s Office, saw him off at the airport.
The president is accompanied by his wife Rebecca Sultana, family members, personal physicians, staff nurses and officials from Bangabhaban.
President Shahabuddin underwent cardiac bypass surgery in Singapore in October 2023. Following medical advice, he is scheduled to undergo further health assessments at a specialised hospital in the UK as part of his follow-up treatment.
He is expected to return to Bangladesh on May 18 after completing the medical check-up.
