Three people were killed after a microbus lost control and fell into a roadside ditch on the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar highway.
The road accident took place on Tuesday at around 9:15am in the Chunti area of Lohagara upazila.
One of the three victims has been identified. The deceased has been identified as Indasara Bhikkhu Prokash Uchimong Mog (44). He was the son of the late Mongshi Mog from Chowdhury Para in Panchhari upazila of Khagrachhari district.
Police said the microbus was travelling from Cox’s Bazar to Khagrachhari when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to fall into a ditch beside the road.
Officer-in-Charge of Lohagara Police Station Abdus Jalil confirmed the incident and said the accident resulted in three fatalities.
Fire Service officials also confirmed the recovery operation. Sub-Officer Firoz Khan of Lohagara Fire Station said firefighters recovered the bodies after reaching the scene, while injured passengers had already been taken to hospital by locals.
Authorities said the victims are believed to be members of an ethnic minority group, but their identities are still being verified.
