The government has fixed the procurement prices and collection targets for paddy, rice, and wheat for the ongoing Boro season.
The decision was announced following a meeting of the Food Planning and Monitoring Committee (FPMC) held at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday.
The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Press Information Department after the meeting, he said that the government has set the procurement price of Boro paddy at Tk36 per kg, the same as the previous season.
Similarly, the procurement price of parboiled rice has been fixed at Tk49 per kg, while that of non-parboiled (Atap) rice has been set at Tk48 per kg. The procurement price of wheat has also been fixed at Tk36 per kg.
He further said that the total procurement target for paddy and food grains in the current Boro season has been set at 18.1 lakh metric tonnes. Of this, 500,000 tonnes will be Boro paddy, 12 lakh metric tonnes parboiled rice, and 100,000 tonnes Atap rice. In addition, the procurement target for wheat has been set at 5,000 tonnes.
