The first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad commenced at 11:00am on Thursday.
According to sources at the Parliament Secretariat, President Mohammed Shahabuddin is scheduled to deliver a speech at 2:00pm, which is expected to last approximately 40 minutes.
Under the constitution, parliament must be convened within 30 days of the announcement of election results.
In line with this provision, the first session of the 13th parliament has been convened nearly a month after the results of the general election were declared.
