Gold prices rise again

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced another increase in gold prices just one day after the previous hike.

The price has been raised by Tk2,216 per bhori (11.664 grams), pushing the price of 22-carat gold at Tk270,430 per bhori. Yesterday, the price stood at Tk268,214.

BAJUS disclosed the new rates in a statement on Wednesday (11 March), saying the revised prices came into effect from 10:00am.

The association said the price increase was made due to a rise in the price of pure gold (acid gold) in the local market.

Under the new rates, the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk270,430.

The prices for other categories are:

• 21-carat gold: Tk258,124 per bhori

• 18-carat gold: Tk221,266 per bhori

• Traditional method gold: Tk180,617 per bhori

Silver prices have also been increased:

• 22-carat silver: Tk6,707 per bhori

• 21-carat silver: Tk6,415 per bhori

• 18-carat silver: Tk5,482 per bhori

• Traditional method silver: Tk4,082 per bhori
