India’s West Bengal Police have arrested two Bangladeshi nationals, including the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Inquilab Manch convener Osman Hadi, according to Indian news agency ANI.

The Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police confirmed the arrests in a press release issued on Sunday evening.

According to the statement, Faisal Karim Masud, identified as the main suspect in the killing, and his associate Alamgir Hossain were arrested late Saturday night from Bangaon in North 24 Parganas district, near the India–Bangladesh border.

The STF said it received confidential and credible intelligence indicating that the two suspects had entered India after committing serious crimes in Bangladesh, including extortion and murder.

Authorities believed the pair had taken shelter in the Bangaon border area, with plans to return to Bangladesh if an opportunity arose.

Acting on the intelligence, STF officers conducted a raid in the area on Saturday night and arrested both suspects.

Suspects fled to India after killing
According to information obtained during initial interrogation, Masud and Hossain allegedly killed political activist Osman Hadi in Bangladesh before fleeing the country.

Investigators said the two suspects illegally crossed into India through the Meghalaya border and subsequently moved through several locations across the country.

They eventually reached Bangaon in West Bengal, apparently intending to return to Bangladesh through the border area.

The STF said a case has been registered in connection with the arrests.

Both suspects were produced before a court on Sunday and later remanded to police custody for further investigation, the statement added.
