A collision between two motorcycles claimed the lives of two individuals and left two others injured in Rajshahi's Tanore upazila on Monday.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon on the Tanore-Mundumala road in Devi Pur area of the upazila.
One of the deceased was identified as Zahid Alam, 45, son of Rafiqul Islam and a resident of Shiroil Colony neighborhood in the city. He served as a senior executive at US-Bangla Airlines stationed at Hazrat Shah Makhdum Airport in Rajshahi. The other victim was Md. Polash, 26, also a resident of the same area.
Citing locals, Tanore Police Station officer-in-charge Mizanur Rahman stated that Zahid was riding pillion while Palash was driving the motorcycle when the collision took place with another motorbike. Zahid died on the spot due to the impact while Palash succumbed to his injuries after being taken to the Upazila Health Complex.
The OC added that the bodies were recovered and will be handed over to their families following legal procedures. The two injured individuals are receiving treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to the fatal collision.
