The National Citizen Party (NCP) and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) have joined the eight-party alliance led by the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman made the announcement at a press conference held at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka on Sunday evening.

“Although several other political parties have expressed interest in joining the alliance, the current situation does not allow for the inclusion of any party at the moment,” he said.

Representatives of nine parties were present at the press conference, but no NCP representative attended the event.

Shafiqur said the NCP would hold a separate press conference to formally announce its joining the new alliance.
