Nomination forms were collected on Sunday on behalf of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman for Bogura-7 and Bogura-6 constituencies, respectively, ahead of the 13th parliamentary election, slated for 12 February next year.
Former lawmaker Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu, the election coordinator for Khaleda, collected the nomination paper on her behalf from the election office on Gohail Road.
Meanwhile, Bogura district BNP President Rezaul Karim Badsha, along with four other senior leaders, collected Tarique’s nomination paper from Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md Toufikur Rahman.
Helaluzzaman said, “Begum Khaleda Zia was elected three consecutive times from the Bogura-7 constituency. This time, we want to gift her the seat with the highest number of votes. People are eagerly waiting to vote for her.”
After collecting the nomination form, Badsha told the media that even if Tarique Rahman returns to the country on 25 December, it may not be possible for him to come to Bogura to submit the nomination paper.
“In that case, local leaders will submit the nomination form on his behalf. However, once he returns to the country, he will take part in election campaigning in Bogura,” Badsha added.
