A writ was filed with the High Court (HC) on Monday, seeking quality evaluation of the bearing pads used in Dhaka metro rail services and all the flyovers constructed across the country.
Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun filed the writ in public interest, asking the HC to require the formation of a probe committee in this regard.
The bench of Justice Fahmida Kader is likely to hold the hearing this week. Secretary to the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry and others concerned have been made respondents to the writ.
The writ follows the death of a pedestrian named Abul Kalam Azad, 36, around Sunday noon due to the collapse to the ground of a bearing pad, weighing at least 140 kilograms, from the Farmgate metro rail station.
