Four more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 263 this year.
In the 24-hour span, 1,143 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 65,440 in 2025.
Among the fatalities – three men and one woman – two were reported in Barishal division and one each in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Rajshahi division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest cases, 186 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 121 in Chattogram division, 282 in Dhaka division, 165 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 154 under DSCC, 65 in Khulna division, 56 in Mymensingh division, 56 in Rajshahi division, 50 in Rangpur division, and eight in Sylhet division.
DGHS data shows that men account for 61.7% of infections so far this year, while women represent 38.3%.
Currently, 2,733 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Dengue killed 575 people in 2024, with 1,01,214 cases recorded. The previous year saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 3,21,179 hospitalisations.
