The prosecution today prayed to the International Crimes Tribunal-2 to frame charges against Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif and three other party leaders in a crimes against humanity case.
The case was filed over the atrocities committed across the country and the killing of six people in Kushtia during the July uprising last year.
Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam read out all the charges before the tribunal and sought indictment order against the accused.
The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Nozrul Islam Chowdhury, decided to hear the defence tomorrow.
Hanif's co-accused are Kushtia District AL President and former Zila Parishad Chairman Sadruddin Khan, District AL General Secretary Azgar Ali, and Kushtia City AL General Secretary Ataur Rahman Ata. All four are on the run.
According to the formal charge, Hanif, a former lawmaker from Kushtia-3, is accused of command responsibility.
