Six more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 230 this year.
In the 24-hour span, 953 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 54,559 in 2025.
Among the fatalities – all men – two were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and one each in Barishal division, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Khulna division, and Rajshahi division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest cases, 141 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 107 in Chattogram division, 197 in Dhaka division, 147 under DNCC, 122 under DSCC, 93 in Khulna division, 46 in Mymensingh division, 69 in Rajshahi division, 23 in Rangpur division, and eight in Sylhet division.
DGHS data shows that men account for 61.1% of infections so far this year, while women represent 38.9%.
Currently, 2,546 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Dengue killed 575 people in 2024, with 1,01,214 cases recorded. The previous year saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 3,21,179 hospitalisations.
