A patient from Sreemangal, who suffered from wrong treatment, has filed a complaint with Executive Officer Md. Islam Uddin, seeking redress and compensation.
On Monday (August 11) morning, Md. Moktar Mia, a small businessman from Sreemangal town, filed this complaint.
In addition, Editor of Rp News and Sreemangal Correspondent of The Financial Post Syed Amiruzzaman, Moulvibazar Civil Surgeon Dr. Mamunur Rahman, Sreemangal Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Synthia Tasnim, Sreemangal Press Club Acting President AFM Abdul Hye Don and Acting General Secretary Yasin Arafat Robin, Diagnostic Owners Association President and General Secretary and other concerned departments have sent copies for their kind information and to take necessary action to seek redress and compensation.
He has also filed another similar complaint specifically with the Upazila Health Officer.
In the written complaint letter, Moktar Mia said, "Unable to bear the severe pain in my lower abdomen, I approached Dr. Md. Aminul Islam at Syed Pharmacy in Sreemangal town (adjacent to Islami Bank) for treatment. He prescribed a prescription after a check-up. He instructed me to get CBC, HBs Ag (ICT), USG of Whole Abdomen, and urine R/ME tests done at Doctor's Point. According to his instructions, the Doctor's Point tests were done and when he saw these tests, he prescribed the medicines in that prescription. He said that I had stones in my gallbladder and that I would have to have an operation within 15 days. After taking the medicine, my condition was getting worse day by day. My whole body became paralyzed, my eyes were getting worse, and my body was aching. In this situation, I was disoriented and forced to consult Dr. Md. Shafiqul, an assistant professor, urologist and andrologist at the Department of Urology at MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital in Sylhet. I went to see Mr. Islam (Lyon) (he comes to Sreemangal every Friday). He gave instructions to get Serum Creatinene, USG of Whole Abdomen MU, PVR, Bed Tissue, Vacutainer Red 4ml, Vacutainer Needle tests done from Sylhet Trust Medical Services. I got the tests done as per his instructions and prescription. It was found that I had no stones in my gallbladder. After seeing the test reports, he reported it to Dr. Abu Bakr Md. Mostafa, Associate Professor of Surgery Department, Sylhet MAG Osmani Hospital. He wrote a prescription after seeing the test reports. According to his treatment, I was completely cured. After that, as my eye problem increased, I was treated at BNSB Eye Hospital, Matarkapan, Moulvibazar. According to his treatment, I was completely cured. The main complaint here is against Doctors Point. Due to the wrong treatment, I suffered financially, mentally and physically. Due to the wrong treatment "In terms of financial losses alone, the amount is only about 30-35 thousand taka."
In his written complaint seeking redress and compensation, Moktar Mia further said, "As I have been affected by the wrong treatment, I seek your kind permission to take necessary action against Doctor's Point."
While receiving the complaint, Sreemangal Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Synthia Tasnim said that the matter will be investigated seriously.
He said that after the investigation, appropriate and necessary measures will be taken with the guidance of the Civil Surgeon and the cooperation of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
