5 killed as train hits autorickshaw in Cox’s Bazar

Five passengers of a CNG-run autorickshaw were killed after it was hit by a train in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Saturday.

The identities of the deceased and injured could not be identified immediately.

Abdul Kaiyum, Assistant Station Master of Ramu, said the Cox’s Bazar Express train reached the level crossing at Dailir Chhara area in Ramu around 1:00pm when the collision took place.

The train reportedly dragged the autorickshaw for nearly half a kilometre.

Three passengers died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to hospital.
