"Agriculture is prosperity" - a five-day Agricultural Technology Fair-2025 has begun in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar with this slogan and theme.
The fair was organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension of Sreemangal under the Sylhet Region Agricultural Development Project (1st Revised) through Modern Technology.
The fair was inaugurated at the Sreemangal Upazila Parishad premises on Tuesday (July 29, 2025) at 12 noon.
Organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension, the five-day fair was inaugurated under the chairmanship of Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Md. Alauddin. Upazila Executive Officer Md. Islam Uddin was the chief guest and Youth Development Officer Asim Kumar Kar, Executive Engineer of Sreemangal Municipality Md. Jahirul Islam and others were present as special guests.
Earlier, after cutting the ribbon and inaugurating the technology fair, the guests visited various stalls of the fair.
A total of 14 stalls participated in the fair this year. The stalls are agricultural product exhibition, fertilizer, seeds, organic pesticide stall, high-value crop cultivation, soil health preservation, production increase through improved management, single fruit orchard, mixed fruit orchard, floating vegetable orchard, vegetable cultivation in sack or TV system, agricultural technology village stall, crop cultivation in the Sarjan system and modern agricultural machinery exhibition stall.
The main objectives of the Agricultural Technology Fair, said those concerned, are to increase the use of modern technology in the agricultural sector. To give farmers ideas about new technologies. To create a market for the products produced by farmers. To exchange knowledge and experience on agriculture.
The Agricultural Technology Fair will play a vital role in the development of the agricultural sector in Sreemangal. It will create a bridge between farmers, agricultural scientists, technologists and policy makers, paving the way for new avenues for agricultural development.
When asked about this, in a response, Comrade Syed Amiruzzaman, a member of the central committee of the National Farmers' Association, leader of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh, Editor of Rp News and prominent columnist, said, "In addition to organizing such fairs, there is no alternative to special monitoring of the agricultural sector to accelerate economic development. To continue the progress of agriculture, specific agriculture-friendly policies and plans are needed, and the necessary funds are allocated for the implementation of all those plans."
