Six people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus in Natore’s Baraigram upazila on Wednesday morning.
The accident took place around 10:00 am in the Tarmuz Pump area on the Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway, police said.
Five of the victims died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries at the hospital. All the deceased were passengers of the microbus.
Golam Sarwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Baraigram Police Station, said the Dhaka-bound microbus collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction near the Tormuz Pump area, leaving the vehicle mangled.
“Police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. Both vehicles were seized, and traffic on the busy highway remained suspended for some time following the accident,” the OC added.
The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.
