Two people were killed and four others injured in a road accident at Hogladanga intersection in the city this morning.
The deceased were identified as Raihan, an adolescent, and Jewel Babu, residents of the Bashbaria area under Hogladanga in the city.
According to police sources, the accident took place when a gas cylinder-laden truck lost control and collided head-on with a passenger-carrying Easy-Bike coming from the opposite direction.
Raihan (17) died on the spot, while the other passengers - Titu, 26, Hasib, 23, Nagendranath Sarkar, 75, and Jewel Babu (35) - along with the truck helper Kabir, 47, sustained injuries.
They were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), where the on-duty doctor declared Jewel Babu dead, said Khairul Bashar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Harintana Police Station.
The injured are currently undergoing treatment at KMCH.
Police have seized the truck, but the driver managed to flee the scene, OC Bashar added.
