Three men died and another was injured after being electrocuted in Panchagarh Sadar Upazila on Wednesday.
The tragic incident happened in the morning in a cornfield at Fakirerhat under Dhakkamara union of the upazila.
The victims were identified as Jamidul, 18, son of Sapijul Islam, Shahin, 40, and Rabbani, 30, son of Shafiul Islam, residents of Benghadi Para village of the union.
According to locals, the victims were harvesting corn in the morning. At that time, they came into contact with a live electrical wire that had fallen unnoticed on the ground. One of them died at the scene, while the others were rushed to Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital with serious injuries. Two more were declared dead upon arrival, and the injured man was later transferred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Dr. Abul Kashem, the hospital's Resident Medical Officer, confirmed that three men were brought around 10 am, two already deceased and one in critical condition.
Panchagarh Sadar Police Station's Officer-in-Charge, Abdullah Hil Zaman, said that an unnatural death (UD) case has been filed and further legal steps are being taken.
