Police have recovered the hanging bodies of a newlywed couple from their house in Gaibandha's Palashbari upazila.
The bodies were recovered around 10 am on Tuesday (June 4) from Dakerpara village under Betkapa union of the upazila.
The dead were Rasel, 18, son of Zakirul Islam of Dakerpara village, and his wife Jui, 15. Rasel worked as a mason's assistant.
Betkapa UP Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Mosta said, "Rasel and Jui got married about three months ago after an affair. Since their marriage, their lives have been happy. There were no problems. The two took a bath together in the pond yesterday afternoon."
Quoting family members, he further said that on Monday (June 2) night, after eating, they went to sleep in their own house. The next morning, around 7 am, Rasel's mother Rashida Begum called out to her son, but when she did not receive any response, she peeked inside the house through a window and saw the two hanging from the ceiling of the house.
Palashbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zulfiqar Ali Bhuttu said on information, the bodies were recovered from the scene and sent to the morgue of Gaibandha Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
