Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said 23 people were pushed in by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) through different border points in Bhurungamari upazila of Kurigram today.
Lt Col Md Mahbubul Haque, commanding officer of Kurigram 22 BGB Battalion, said, "BSF pushed 23 people into Bangladesh through our sector's border areas. They are currently in custody and undergoing identity and background checks. Further details will be shared through a press statement after verification."
Meanwhile, an attempt to push 14 individuals by BSF into Bangladesh territory through the Baraibari border in Rowmari upazila has been thwarted by BGB personnel, according to the border force.
The 14 individuals are currently stranded at the zero line between the two countries, as of 6:00pm today.
Jamalpur Battalion Assistant Director (Acting Adjutant) Mohammad Shamsul Haque told that, "Although BSF tried to push 14 people across the Baraibari border, our guards stopped them at the zero line."
"Our troops remain on high alert, and strict security measures have been implemented at the border," he added.
A flag meeting with the BSF is taking place at the moment.
He also noted that it is yet to be confirmed whether the stranded individuals are Bangladeshi nationals.
