Two young men lost their lives in a tragic accident when a speeding truck collided with their motorbike in Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha district on Friday morning.
The victims, identified as Koushik and Shrabon from Bishwopur and Shyampur villages in Palashbari upazila, were involved in the accident around 11 pm on a bridge in Dholbhanga area.
Eyewitnesses said the motorbike, driven by one of the victims, was attempting to overtake the truck heading towards Palashbari. However, the bike lost control, causing the youths to fall directly in front of the truck, which then ran over them, resulting in their immediate deaths.
The truck driver and his assistant fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.
Palashbari police recovered the bodies and seized the truck. Officer-in-Charge Zulfiqar Ali Bhuttu confirmed that legal action would be taken in connection with the accident.
