Headless Body Found in Padma River, Prime Suspect Arrested

A murder case has been filed in connection with the recovery of a headless body from a canal in a branch of the Padma River in the Char Barat area of Chhotobhakla Union of Goalanda Upazila of Rajbari district.

The deceased has been identified as Jihad Sardar (26) by his father Shahid Sardar. Locals saw the body floating in the canal on Sunday (April 27) afternoon and informed the police. Later, Goalanda Ghat Police Station went to the spot and recovered the body.

The next day (April 28), the deceased's father Shahid Sarkar filed a murder case with Goalanda Ghat Police Station as the plaintiff in this incident. Three people have been named as accused in the case - local Hridoy (24), the deceased's cousin Sohag Sardar (27), and a woman Sumana Parvin Setu (24). Sumana Parvin Setu was arrested from Char Baliadanga area with the help of information technology in a special operation on Tuesday (April 29) afternoon.

The arrested accused has given a confessional statement. Earlier, the police also arrested Sohag Sardar and handed him over to the court.

The investigation into the case is ongoing and the operation to arrest the remaining accused is ongoing, said Goalanda Ghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Rakibul Islam.
