A humanchain was held in Jamalpur demanding an end to cases, attacks and torture against all journalists including the editor of Amar Desh newspaper. The human chain was organized by Amar Desh Pathak Mela at the District Press Club premises on April 26 at noon. The president of Amar Desh Pathak Mela Jamalpur district, cultural activist Zakiul Islam Khan Tipu, presided over it.
The speakers demanding the withdrawal of false and conspiratorial cases against five journalists including Amar Desh Editor and Publisher Mahmudur Rahman were: Jamalpur District Press Club President Fazle Elahi Makam of Bangladesh Betar and SA TV, Vice President Ittefaq and New Nation Correspondent Shah Jamal, Jamalpur Law College Governing Body President Advocate Rafiqul Alam, Ajay Kumar Pal, former president of the Conscious Citizens Committee-SANAK Jamalpur, Jamalpur District Representative of Amar Desh Yusuf Ali, Jamalpur District Press Club General Secretary of Bangladesh Pratidin and DBC News Shuvro Mehedi, Mohona TV's Usman Haruni, NTV and Khaborer Kagoj Asmaul Asif, Jamalpur Science and Technology University Journalists Association President Md. Mirajul Islam, Amar Desh Sarishabari Representative Solaiman Babu, Madarganj Representative Khademul Islam, among others.
