Police arrested the prime accused in the killing of Primeasia University student, Zahidul Islam Parvez, from Bhabanipur in Sadar upazila of Gaibandha district on Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Meheraz Islam, son of Nurul Islam, a resident of Banani area.
Tipped off, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) conducted a drive in Gaibandha and arrested Pervez from the house of one of his relatives in the afternoon.
Later, he was taken to Dhaka.
Earlier, police arrested three people—Al Kamal Sheikh alias Kamal, 19, Alvi Hossain Zunayed, 19 and Al Amin Sunny, 19—in this connection with Banani Police Station.
On Monday, police arrested Hridoy Miazi, 23, an listed accused in the case and also the joint member secretary of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Zahidul Islam Parvez, 23, a student of the 223rd batch of Textile Engineering Department of the university, was stabbed to death following a dispute with some students of the English Department on the university campus on April 19.
A case was filed against eight people including Meheraz.
Besides, 20-25 unnamed persons were also accused in the case.
