A house in Rajbari's Goalanda has been gutted in a fire. The accident took place in Hossain Mandal Para village, along the Dhaka-Khulna highway, in front of Daulatdia Model High School in Daulatdia Union of the upazila.

A fire broke out in a living room of Md. Rashid Mondal due to an electrical short circuit at 9 am on Tuesday (April 22), destroying the house and furniture.

Locals said that they suddenly saw smoke coming out of their house and shouted "fire, fire", and as people came running, the whole house caught fire. Since no one was in the house at the time, it was not possible to take out the furniture. Locals came and tried to put out the fire. Later, after receiving the news, the fire service personnel came and controlled the fire.

Meanwhile, rice, cash, furniture, clothes and many other things in the house were burnt to ashes. They believe that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit in the house. They have suffered a loss of around 50,000 to 70,000 taka.

Hasi Begum's mother said, "I went to the market a while ago to buy betel nuts. When I came back from the market, I saw that my Hasi's house had burned down. My Hasi works in people's houses and eats. Sometimes she works as a cook in a hotel to make ends meet. Now our living room and many things have burned down. My daughter had worked hard to build this house, but today that house has been burned down. My daughter went to work today and has not heard anything yet."

In this regard, Goalanda Fire Service Station Officer Md. Abdur Rahman said, "We went to the spot after receiving the news and controlled the fire. But we could not rescue the furniture and belongings in his house, everything was burnt. We were able to save the entire house from catching fire because we brought the fire under control in a short time. During this time, one of their living rooms along with the kitchen burned down. However, we were able to rescue one of their upper living rooms. The family suffered a loss of about 50 to 70 thousand taka.
