A 9-year-old girl was raped at the child care center of a local NGO in Narua village of Raiganj upazila, Sirajganj on Sunday. A case was filed in this regard five days after the incident.
The victim is undergoing treatment at the Shahid M Monsur Ali medical college.
The accused, a 15-year-old, is the son of Abdul Alim of Narua village. He has gone into hiding along with his family after the incident.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Raiganj Police Station Md. Asaduzzaman said the child care center of the NGO was being operated at the house of Abdul Alim and that the accused's mother was a teacher there.
The accused had reportedly taken the victim to his room on Sunday morning during school hours and raped her. Afterwards, the victim became ill and was taken to the hospital.
Later, the victim disclosed the incident to her family at home when she turned sick again.
"When we came to know of the matter, we rushed to the spot. The father of the victim has filed a case with Raiganj Police Station on Thursday accusing the 15-year-old." the OC said.
