India's Border Security Force (BSF) last night handed over two Bangladeshi nationals to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) following a flag meeting at Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.
Shyamal Biswas, 66, and Ratan Sarkar, 58, were handed over near 60/29 border pillar at Baghadanga Border Outpost (BOP) around 10:00pm.
Subedar Asaduzzaman Biswas, company commander of Baghadanga BOP under Maheshpur-58 BGB, led the meeting on behalf of Bangladesh, while AC Yadav Nagesh Gautam, company commander of the 194th Battalion's Sundarpur Camp, represented BSF.
According to Maheshpur-58 BGB Assistant Director Saiful Islam, BSF detained the two Bangladeshis on Tuesday afternoon when they were trying to illegally enter Bangladesh from India.
Following communication between the two forces, BSF called on BGB to take them back. Later, the two were officially returned through the flag meeting last night, he added.
