Police yesterday arrested a 16-year-old boy in Jhenaidah's Harinakundu upazila on charge of raping a four-and-a-half-year-old child.
The victim's mother filed a case with Harinakundu Police Station yesterday afternoon, said MA Rouf Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.
Later, police arrested the youth.
According to the case statement, the accused lured the child with chocolate and took her to a cornfield near his house, where he raped her. After the incident, the victim's family tried to hide the matter out of shame.
However, when the child fell ill, she was admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Center of Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital. Her medical examination was completed there, the OC added.
