A fire that broke out at an Ibn Sina Pharmaceuticals factory in Shafipur, Kaliakair, Gazipur, on Saturday was brought under control at around 5:35pm after nearly an hour of firefighting efforts.

Six Fire Service units worked to contain the blaze, according to fire service officials.

The fire broke out in a store on the ground floor of the factory’s six-storey building at around 4:22pm, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence. The store was reportedly part of the factory’s herbal section.

Firefighters from Kaliakair, Konabari and Gazipur Chowrasta fire stations took part in the operation.

Factory workers evacuated the building after the fire broke out. Workers from a neighbouring garment factory also assisted firefighters in bringing the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage had not been immediately determined. Further details were expected following an investigation.
