The Department of Youth Development (DYD) has called off the recruitment examination for the post of Assistant Upazila Youth Development Officer following allegations of a question paper leak on social media.
The written test for the 11th-grade post was scheduled to take place across approximately 100 centres in Dhaka at 11:00am on Saturday, with over 300,000 job seekers vying for 242 positions nationwide.
The authorities reached the decision to postpone the exam just hours before its commencement, following emergency consultations triggered by widespread allegations that surfaced on Friday night.
According to claims circulating on social media, an organised syndicate within the department, allegedly involving a senior official serving on the recruitment exam committee and one of his relatives, was implicated in the incident.
The online posts further claimed that underhand deals of around Tk25 lakh were struck per candidate, with examinees reportedly made to memorise leaked questions and answers at various locations throughout the night ahead of the test.
