
World Teachers' Day is being observed today, October 5, under the theme "Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, upholding dignity, and shaping our future."
To recognize the contributions of educators in nation-building, the government is honoring 101 exemplary teachers nationwide, expanding the award scope significantly from previous years when only 12 teachers received the recognition. Each honored teacher will receive a crest, a certificate, and Tk 2 lakh.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will hand over the honors as the chief guest at a discussion and award ceremony scheduled for Monday afternoon at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital. Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan will preside over the event.
The 101 awardees span primary to higher education, comprising 10 primary school teachers, 20 secondary level teachers, 25 college teachers, 20 general university faculty members, 10 medical institution faculty members, three from agricultural universities, three from engineering universities, four from science and technology universities, and six selected directly by the Prime Minister.
