Symbolic PhotoTremors were felt in different parts of the country early Sunday after three earthquakes struck Myanmar and India’s northeastern states of Mizoram and Tripura within about 75 minutes, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The first quake, measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, struck the Myanmar-Bangladesh border area at 12:12am on Sunday, the EMSC said.
Tremors were felt in areas near the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf border and in Chattogram following the quake.
A minute later, a magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit the Lunglei area of Mizoram along the Bangladesh-India border.
The tremor was felt in Chattogram, Cumilla, Feni, Noakhali and other parts of Bangladesh.
Later, at 1:27am, a magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck near Agartala in Tripura, with mild tremors reported in Dhaka and several other parts of Bangladesh.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage from the tremors.
