The price of 22-carat gold in Bangladesh fell by Tk 1,108 per bhori on Wednesday, bringing the price down to Tk 2,34,038 per bhori, including VAT, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association.

The revised price came into effect at 10:00am on Wednesday, following a notification issued by BAJUS. The association said the latest adjustment was made in line with changes in the local market price of refined gold.

Under the revised rates, a bhori of 21-carat gold now costs Tk 2,23,540, while 18-carat gold is priced at Tk 1,91,931. The price of gold produced through the traditional method has been set at Tk 1,56,822 per bhori.

Before Wednesday’s reduction, BAJUS had cut the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 per bhori on Sunday, bringing it to Tk 2,35,146.

The association had raised the price by Tk 5,482 per bhori on September 3 to Tk 2,37,362. A day earlier, on September 2, it had reduced the price by Tk 4,374 to Tk 2,31,880.

With Wednesday’s revision, gold prices have been adjusted 113 times in the local market so far this year, including 56 increases, 56 decreases and one adjustment related to VAT, according to BAJUS.

Meanwhile, silver prices remained unchanged.

A bhori of 22-carat silver, including VAT, is currently priced at Tk 5,132. The prices of 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional-method silver stand at Tk 4,957, Tk 4,257 and Tk 3,208 per bhori respectively.

Silver prices have been revised 68 times this year, with 35 increases and 33 decreases.
