The unit resumed generation around 8am, Anwarul Azim, general manager of the plant's human resources department, told The Financial post .
The unit was shut down around 11:30am on 13 September following the mechanical fault.
"Production was temporarily suspended due to a mechanical fault, which caused us losses. We worked to resolve the problem as quickly as possible," Anwarul Azim said.
"We always try to maintain uninterrupted power generation from the Rampal plant," he added.
According to plant officials, the second unit is currently generating 371MW, while the first unit is producing 658MW for the national grid.
Anwarul Azim said the plant would gradually supply electricity to the national grid according to demand.
