With a message of greenery and a cleaner environment, the Police Women Welfare Association (PUNAK) in Netrokona distributed tree saplings among students of Police Line School on Saturday (September 20).The programme was held at Netrokona Police Lines. Mymensingh Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mohammad Zahidul Hasan, BPM-Seva, attended the event as the chief guest. Life Nahar Nasrin Jemi, president of PUNAK Netrokona, chaired the programme.
Netrokona Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tariqul Islam and other police officials were also present.
More than 200 students of Police Line School received tree saplings during the programme. The students expressed enthusiasm as they received the saplings.
Speaking to journalists, DIG Mohammad Zahidul Hasan said planting trees alone is not enough; they need proper care and regular maintenance to ensure the success of tree plantation.
The organisers said the initiative was aimed not only at encouraging tree planting but also at creating a sense of responsibility among students toward protecting the environment.
Police officials and employees working at the Police Lines, along with teachers and students of Police Line School, attended the programme.
