Four more members are reportedly set to join the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today (21 August).
Government and BNP sources said Abdul Moyeen Khan, Andaleeve Rahman Partho and Saching Prue Jerry are set to be inducted into the Cabinet as ministers, according to media reports. Mohammad Shamim Kaiser is being tipped for appointment as a state minister.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is scheduled to take the oath of office as president this evening. The new Cabinet members are expected to take their oaths shortly afterwards, sources familiar with the matter said.
Andaleeve Rahman Partho, chairman of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) and lawmaker from Bhola-1, has received a phone call asking him to take the oath of office as a minister.
Abdul Matin Saud, secretary general of the BJP, told TBS that Partho informed him that he has received a call to take the oath as a Cabinet member.
However, Saud could not say which ministry Partho will be assigned.
Meanwhile, Shamim, the MP for Gaibandha-4, told TBS that he is not aware which ministry he may be assigned, adding that he himself is trying to gather more information about the matter.
Mohammad Tanvir Azam Siddiqui, director (road) of the Department of Government Transport, told TBS that five vehicles have been supplied at the request of the Cabinet Division.
Abdul Moyeen Khan, whose name is on the list of new ministers, is a member of the BNP Standing Committee and the lawmaker for Narsingdi-2, while Saching Prue is the lawmaker for Bandarban and convener of the BNP's Bandarban district unit.
