Police arrested Begum Rokeya University Chhatra League leader and accused in the Abu Sayed murder case Imran Chowdhury Akash from Jamalpur's Islampur in the Devil Hunt operation on Saturday.
He was arrested for conducting a special operation in the area of Islampur Upazila.
Arrested Imran Chowdhury Akash BRUR joint general secretary of Chhatra League and president of Sheikh Russell Shishu Kishore Parishad. He is the son of Shahensha Chowdhury Shahin of Gangapara area of Islampur.
According to the police, he was arrested last night from his home in Gangapara, Islampur based on a secret tip as part of the Devil Hunt operation. After the mass uprising of the students, he came here and went into hiding. Imran was not named as an accused in the Abu Saeed murder case, but he was arrested as an accused.
Islampur police station officer-in-charge Saifullah Saif said that legal action is being taken against this leader of the Chhatra League. Besides, Chayan, the treasurer of Islampur Municipal Awami League, and Saiul Islam Sobhon, joint general secretary of Upazila Chhatra League, were also arrested in the raid.
