Voicing a pledge to further advance the existing friendly relations between the two countries, Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Dinesh Trivedi said that the relations between Bangladesh and India are gradually getting increasingly stronger based on mutual respect and cooperation.
At a program held at the Indian High Commission in Baridhara in the capital on Saturday morning to mark India's 80th Independence Day, he pledged to further advance the existing friendly relations between the two countries.
The Indian Independence Day program began with the hoisting of the national flag at the Indian High Commission in Baridhara. After this, the national anthem was played.
Officials and employees of the Indian High Commission, Indian citizens living in Bangladesh and invited guests from different classes and professions were present at the program. Then, the Independence Day messages given by the President and Prime Minister of India were read out.
In his speech, High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi said that cooperation between Bangladesh and India continues in trade, communication, security, healthcare and other important areas. This partnership will be further expanded for the welfare of the people of both countries.
He said that in addition to economic and cultural cooperation, there is a great opportunity for the two countries to work together in the renewable energy sector.
The Indian High Commissioner also said that people-to-people relations, common aspirations and a spirit of cooperation are the main foundations of Bangladesh-India friendship.
He also expressed hope that the two countries will work more closely in the future for the purpose of shared development and prosperity.
