A low-pressure area has formed over the North Bay and adjoining West Bengal-Bangladesh coast.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) says it may intensify further, bringing gusty winds to coastal areas and the sea.
On Wednesday morning, the department asked Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports to hoist local warning signal number three.
All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and operate with caution until further notice.
