State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Mir Shahe Alam on Friday has said that five elections including city corporation, upazila, district council, and municipality will be held in the current fiscal year.
He made the remarks while visiting the residential building of sanitation workers in Srimangal in Moulvibazar district on Friday.
The State Minister said that Tk 5,000 to 6,500 crore is required to complete the local government elections. This money has been included in the budget passed in the last parliament. The commission is preparing to organize the local government elections.
He further said that the local government has already given instructions to the Election Commission in this regard. Once the preparations of the Election Commission are completed, the Commission, Local Government and Finance Department will sit in this ministry and decide which election to hold first.
Regarding load shedding, the State Minister said that we have to go to renewable electricity. More emphasis should be placed on solar panels. Then you will see that the crises that are currently there will not last. If we all start using solar panels in businesses, schools, and homes, then the cost of renewable electricity will be recovered within a year.
Earlier, the State Minister planted a fruit tree sapling on the Victoria High School grounds. Later, he inspected the playgrounds, children's gardens, and garbage dumps of three Victoria High Schools.
