More than 1.85 million students are anxiously awaiting the results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations. Their parents, teachers and well-wishers are also eagerly awaiting the results, with concerns growing as they have not been published within the expected timeframe.
However, sources at the Ministry of Education said the wait will not be much longer, as the education boards are expected to publish the results later this month.
The exact date has not yet been finalised. Education board officials said they are working to complete the results by July 27 or 28, while ministry sources indicated that July 30 is likely to be set as the publication date.
Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, told The Financial post, "We had hoped to publish the results by July 20, but that was not possible. We expect to have the results ready by July 27 or 28. The results will be published on the date decided by the Ministry of Education."
A senior official of the ministry's Secondary and Higher Education Division said that if the education boards complete the results by July 28, they could be published within the month, most likely on July 30.
"The inauguration of the Notun Kuri sports programme will take place on July 27, with the prime minister in attendance. The minister, secretary and other education officials are currently busy with that event. Besides, July 31 falls on a Friday, making July 30 the most likely date for the publication of the results," the official said.
The written examinations for this year's SSC and equivalent exams concluded on May 20. Under the existing rules, the results are supposed to be published within 60 days of the completion of the written examinations. Accordingly, they were expected by July 20, but the education boards were unable to meet that deadline this year.
