4 more die with measles symptoms in 24 hours

Four more people have died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours on Saturday, bringing the combined death toll to 784 since March 15, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.

According to the latest upadate of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 773 new cases were reported during the period.

The report said that although four children died with measles-like symptoms during the period, no laboratory-confirmed measles deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours.

Since March 15, a total of 689 children have died with measles-like symptoms, while another 95 children have died from confirmed measles infections.

During the latest reporting period, 74 children were confirmed to have measles, while 699 others were identified as suspected cases.

Bangladesh has recorded 116,710 suspected measles cases and 14,318 laboratory-confirmed infections since March 15.

Of the total suspected patients, 99,249 required hospitalisation, while 95,529 have so far been discharged after treatment.
